Our Origin and Mission

Dark Adaptation Consulting, LLC was formed after seeing a need to provide higher quality and more realistic training to specific units in law enforcement and civilians. We identified a gap in readily available, applicable and affordable training to those who need it most. We are not your “Instagram instructors”. What we lack in flash, we make up for with years of instructing a wide range of clientele and providing vetted techniques that are transferable to your unique needs and mission set.

Our mission is to provide you with the most vetted training and best methods for practical applications.

For Law Enforcement, we strive to provide our fellow officers with the most up to date and thoroughly tested tactics for apprehending violent offenders in dynamic situations. We have two primary focuses in our LE training, plain clothes enforcement and active shooter response. We will not just teach you these proven tactics, but we will go in depth on when and how to apply them. We aim to give you and your team the highest probability of success through proper planning and implementation. Our instructors have a diverse background in policing, but with one commonality; we all are active law enforcement officers that conduct high risk operations in team environments.

For churches, businesses, and schools, we provide you with the most practical training to better prepare you for an active shooter event. We believe in a custom approach, knowing that this type of training is not a “one size fits all”. We will work directly with you to tailor our solutions to your needs.

Our Name

DARK ADAPTATION: the process including dilation of the pupil, increase in sensitivity of the retinal rods, and regeneration of rhodopsin by which the eye adapts to conditions of reduced illumination. Shorter version - how quickly our eyes process information in the dark.

We unfortunately live in dark, violent times with an increasing need to be prepared for the day when these events find us. When we encounter something unexpected, it takes our brains time to absorb and process the information. When that encounter becomes chaotic or violent, we can be thrown deeper into shock, causing longer deliberation. This costs us vital time that could we used towards overcoming this encounter. The only thing we can do, is to prepare ourselves PRIOR to that day, by training consistently. The more we train, the quicker we can make this adaptation, enabling us to see, plan, and make sound decisions that can save lives
